St Oswald’s Hospice is a charity that’s really important to us here at Turps Film and as such, we’ve worked with them for some time.
It’s no secret to anyone that COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on so many lives and businesses over the course of 2020. Like us, you might’ve thought the pandemic would be a thing of the past by now, but as we slide into a second lockdown, more businesses and organisations are having to adapt once more to still deliver their services/products, in a way that adheres to regulations – one of those organisations is St Oswald’s Hospice.
‘Light up a Life’ with St Oswald’s Hospice
Their annual ‘Light up a Life’ service – a celebration of the lives of loved ones lost to cancer and a vital event in their fundraising calendar – just isn’t possible this year in its usual form.
So, after a lot of thought and figuring out how they can still deliver this important and cherished service over the festive period, the organisation has turned to video. We’re honoured to be the video production partner for this event and will be helping St Oswald’s bring this virtual service to the homes of thousands of supporters.
Whilst it’s no doubt disappointing for St Oswald’s Hospice to not be able to deliver this service in person, the virtual aspect will help more people than ever access the celebration and hopefully, help them to raise much-needed funds in the process.
The online video production will feature a service led by Davina Radford, consisting of music, song and reflection. The event will culminate with the switch on of the charity’s Tree of Lights display outside the Hospice on Regent Avenue, Gosforth. Each light will sparkle in memory of a special person who is loved and not forgotten.
The remembrance service marks the end of the hospice’s annual Light up a Life campaign. The campaign invites people from across the region and beyond to donate towards the work of St Oswald’s and dedicate a light on the hospice Christmas tree in memory of a loved one.
Davina Radford, Spiritual Care Lead at St Oswald’s Hospice said: “At St Oswald’s, we realise how important and symbolic Light up a Life is for many people and this year, in particular, we appreciate the need for a collective way to mark the lives of those we have sadly said goodbye to.”
If you’re interested in accessing the service on Sunday 6th December at 7pm, you can do so by heading to this page, where it’ll be broadcast.
