Newcastle School for Boys Film

A pupil-led school film that stood in for open days when families could not visit in person.
Education & Training

The brief

Working with design consultancy Fyfe Anderson, Newcastle School for Boys needed a film to act as a tour of the school while open days were on hold during the pandemic, showing its experience, ethos and opportunities in just a few minutes, with a premium look to match the school.

Our approach

Rather than scripting lines or having teachers sell the school, we let current pupils say in their own words why it was the right choice for them. Achieving a high-end commercial look meant a lot of preparation and new lighting, and two tightly scheduled, COVID-safe filming days across the Junior and Senior sites. One choreographed Steadicam move in the library had to be lit, rehearsed and shot inside a 30-minute window.

Deliverables

A main school film and a ‘Thank You’ version.

The result

The film reached 1,000 views on its first day.

Our experience of working with Turps Film was excellent throughout planning, filming and editing. We were surprised at how quickly a very professional video could be produced.
