February was another whirlwind month here at Turps Film, packed with exciting shoots, creative workshops, and plenty of post-production magic. If you’ve been wondering what we’ve been up to, here’s an insight into our latest projects and behind-the-scenes action.
Animating Ashington – Light Nights Event Video
At the end of January, we were out in full force filming the Light Nights event as part of the Animating Ashington programme. This two-day spectacle transformed the town into a vibrant display of light installations, performances, and community engagement. From glowing sculptures to interactive exhibits, the event brought people of all ages together, and we were there to capture the magic.
Our deliverables included a dynamic social video and an overview film featuring interviews and voxpops from attendees. The goal was to highlight not only the visual spectacle but also the community spirit behind the event. Events like this showcase how video production can bring moments to life long after the lights have faded. We love working on projects that celebrate creativity and local culture—especially when we get to experiment with low-light cinematography and dynamic crowd shots!
Here’s our social media output for the event:
Behind the Scenes of a Product Shoot-
Next up, we were in action for an exciting product shoot—though we can’t spill the beans on the details just yet! What we can tell you is that this was a slick, high-end commercial video production.
Luke took the helm as Director, ensuring the overall demonstrability of the product. Adam, our Director of Photography, brought his expertise to create amazing, visually stunning shots. Claire stepped in as Assistant Director, keeping the production running like clockwork. Also joining us was Cal on set capturing behind-the-scenes photos, documenting the team in action and product.
Check out a few of them here:

This commercial product video is designed to showcase a brand-new product ahead of its official release. To give it that extra cinematic magic, the final video will be professionally colour-graded, ensuring every shot is polished and visually striking. Once the project is officially revealed, we’ll be excited to share more!
Filming for Public Health in Newcastle & Sunderland
Public health campaigns are a vital part of spreading awareness, and this month, we worked on a corporate video project covering important public health initiatives in Newcastle and Sunderland.
Filming involved a mix of expert interviews with public health practitioners and on-location shoots to illustrate the role of public health professionals in our communities. The discussions focused on how these professionals work to improve health outcomes, provide essential services, and educate the public on key issues. These types of projects require a careful balance between informative storytelling and engaging visuals, ensuring the final video is both educational and compelling.
Public health messaging is more important than ever, and video is one of the most effective ways to communicate key messages in a way that resonates with audiences. Whether it’s health awareness, corporate messaging, or training videos, we know how to make information both accessible and impactful.
We also captured a few more behind the scenes bits from this jam-packed day:

Vaping Awareness with Sunderland Council
As part of an upcoming vaping awareness animation, we hosted a creative workshop at Sandhill View Academy in Sunderland. This session was with Year 10 media students, giving them a hands-on introduction to video production and animation.
We wanted to empower young creatives by getting them involved in the early stages of the project. The students contributed to scriptwriting, brainstorming visual ideas, and discussing how the animation should look. This kind of collaboration helps ensure that the final piece will resonate with young audiences, as it’s influenced by their own perspectives.
For us, this was a fantastic opportunity to give back and support future filmmakers. Seeing their enthusiasm and ideas in action was inspiring—who knows, we might have met some future Turps Film team members in the making!

Supporting St Oswald’s Hospice with More Social Content
Our ongoing work with St Oswald’s Hospice continued this month as we delivered additional social media content for their Focus on Living Centre. This initiative is all about improving quality of life, offering support, and creating a welcoming, uplifting space for those in need.
Hospices do incredible work that often goes unnoticed, so we’re proud to help tell their story through compassionate, heartfelt video content. Whether it’s capturing interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, or social clips, we’re always looking for ways to create meaningful content that connects with audiences.
