We were asked to collaborate for an arts and culture project focused on Ann Cleeves, the esteemed author of the best-selling Shetland & Vera novels which have been successfully adapted into a hugely popular TV series on ITV. Vera is set in the North East and is filmed in a number of notable, and less notable locations across the region so Ann’s books have seen a resurgence in popularity. The film touches on her love of the North, her experiences, and life as a writer. Creativity is at the heart of every great story, and at Turps Film, we specialise in capturing the energy, passion, and impact of the arts. Whether it’s an immersive festival experience, a behind-the-scenes look at an artist’s process, or a powerful documentary exploring cultural heritage, our films bring creative work to life in a way that engages, excites, and inspires audiences.
The arts thrive on emotion and storytelling, and video is the perfect medium to reflect this. A beautifully crafted film can showcase the atmosphere of a live performance, preserving the magic for those who were there while opening it up to new audiences. Artist profiles and process films offer a glimpse into the dedication, skill, and imagination behind creative work, while documentary-style storytelling helps to capture the significance of cultural projects, ensuring their legacy endures beyond the moment.
Public engagement is a key part of arts and culture, and video plays a vital role in reaching wider audiences. From promotional content that builds anticipation for an upcoming event to in-depth interviews that explore artistic themes, a well-produced film can spark conversations, drive participation, and bring cultural experiences to life for those who might not otherwise have access.
Our experience in the arts and culture sector means we understand how to work sensitively within creative spaces, blending into the background when needed or collaborating closely with artists and organisers to shape a film that truly represents their vision.
