NTSCP Collab with Turps Film | Safeguarding Film
Turps Film is excited to share our recent collaboration with the North Tyneside Safeguarding Children Partnership (NTSCP) in producing a captivating animated safeguarding film. This innovative project aimed to engage young minds and raise awareness about crucial safety measures in a language that speaks directly to them.
Outline of the Safeguarding Film Project
From the outset, it was clear that the heart of this project would lie in the hands of the young people themselves. With that in mind, Turps Film was approached to create an animated video centred around safeguarding. The vision was to involve young people in every aspect of the project. From the planning to the storyboarding to the scriptwriting and recording, ensuring that their voices would resonate in the final product.
Collaborative workshops served as the foundation for the narrative development. During these sessions, the enthusiastic participants shared their creative ideas, and with the expert guidance of Turps Film, transformed them into a structured narrative outline. The focus was on empowering young minds to take ownership of the project, not only enhancing their sense of engagement and connection but ensuring that the end project resonated with its target demographic.
As the workshops progressed, the participants embarked on a scene-by-scene exploration, eventually crafting a script that reflected their collective input. This shared creation and contribution process fostered a profound sense of ownership and enthusiasm among the young people involved.
Premiere of the Safeguarding Film Masterpiece
After days of dedication and hard work, the momentous premiere of the animated film took place on the 20th of July. The excitement was palpable as the young participants, representatives from NTSCP, North Tyneside Council, Northumbria Police, and North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) gathered at the Jam Jar Cinema in Whitley Bay.
The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the lights dimmed, and the screen came to life with the young minds’ collaborative efforts. The animated film, designed by young people from the North East, struck a chord with its insightful storytelling and vibrant visuals. The premiere was not just a celebration of the film but of the young people’s creativity, passion, and dedication to promoting safeguarding among their peers.

Spreading the Message
With the premiere’s resounding success, the animated film is set to become an essential educational tool in secondary schools across North Tyneside. The film’s primary aim is to make safeguarding easily understandable and relatable for young people. By utilising language and visuals that resonate with young people, the film empowers them with knowledge and tools to stay safe.
A Shining Example of Collaborative Success
The success of this animated safeguarding film lies not just in its captivating visuals and compelling narrative, but in the spirit of collaboration and empowerment that brought it to life. Turps Film is proud to have been a part of this incredible journey, working hand in hand with the young participants to create something truly remarkable.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the North Tyneside Council, Northumbria Police, North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB), and all the young minds from The Carers Centre, the YMCA in North Shields, and the Council’s Youth Council and SEND Forum. Together, we have achieved more than just an animated film; we have ignited a spark of awareness and safeguarding knowledge that will ripple through generations.
As the credits roll on this remarkable project, Turps Film looks forward to many more opportunities to collaborate with communities and organisations, bringing stories to life and empowering voices that deserve to be heard.
